St. Colmans (Claremorris) Credit Union

St. Colmans (Claremorris) Credit Union was founded in 1971 and has gone from strength to strength ever since. Today it has in excess of 10,500 active members, savings of €60.5 million and total assets of €70 million. (Nov 2011)

St. Colmans Credit Union is a community and co-operative organisation, existing ‘not for profit but for service’. It is a local organisation practising the original Credit Union philosophy of self help where each member’s savings assists other member’s borrowings.

The Credit Union is owned by its members, each member has an equal vote in deciding how the business is run. The Board of Directors is elected from amongst the members at the AGM each year.

Regulation

The Credit Union is regulated by the Registrar of Credit Unions, which is an arm of the Central Bank of Ireland. It is affiliated to the Irish League of Credit Unions, which is the representative body for the vast majority of Credit Unions in Ireland.

Share Accounts: This is the standard savings account
Loan Account: Any credit union member may apply for a loan, whether in the office, online or by telephone. Please enquire for details.

These services are offered with no arrangement, excess interest, early settlement or transactional charges. Savers earn dividends and loans are offered to members at very attractive rates of interest which also benefits the members.

Monday to Friday: 10 am to 5.30 pm
Saturday:  12 pm to 6 pm
